The Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) launched a Hospitality on Peninsula (HOP) Park and Ride Lot and Shuttle in April 2018.

Supported by the City of Charleston, Charleston County, the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments, this project was put in place to assist the hospitality workers with the city’s congestive parking challenges.

The shuttle operates from 6 a.m. to 3 a.m. daily, running every 15 minutes.

With the lot holding approximately 170 spaces, it is available on first-come, first-served bases with a flat fee of $5 per day. Commuters can use the HOP shuttle for free.

The HOP shuttle will have eight stops on the route with the shuttle exiting from 999 Morrison Drive, turn left onto Romney Street, left onto Meeting Street, left onto Broad Street, and left onto East Bay Street to return to the parking lot.

To track the shuttle, people are encouraged to download the Transit app.

The lot itself has a parking attendant during hours of operation, security cameras, bright lighting, bike racks, and Holy Spokes bike share service.
