Don’t ever bet against pizza. If there’s one food that continues to get better and better in just about every part of the country, it’s pizza pies and pizza slices.
And while Charleston is more well known for its biscuits, fried okra, grits and pimento cheese, pizza has a special place in our stomachs and our hearts (Honestly, whose heart doesn’t have a special place for pizza?)
From fast food pizza you can take with you on the go at 2 am after a long night on King Street to artisan pizzerias specializing in local ingredients, the Holy City is a pizza lover’s dream. So, we asked a few locals to reveal their favorite pies. Try not to drool, you might ruin your keyboard.

D’Allesandro’s Pizza, better known as D’Als, is a local favorite. College of Charleston students literally live off of this pizza, but pretty much anyone you ask where the good pizza is at in Charleston will say D’Als. College students and locals flock to this little neighborhood joint nestled in Elliotborough for not just the pizza offerings but the variety of toppings and sauces.

If you’re heading to Zombie Bob’s, you would be wise to bring your appetite. Their “monster slices” are basically equivalent to FOUR regular slices of pizza. Located inside Frothy Beard Brewing Company, you can wash your monster slice down with a delicious beer that was brewed right across the room. Oh, and the crust is infused with the same beer made on site. On Sunday’s enjoy a pie topped with eggs, bacon, cheese and make all your brunch-lovin pizza-lovin dreams come true.
