Wedding season is upon us. Those dates you have saved on your fridge are just around the corner and social media feeds are likely filling up with engagement photo shoots and wedding albums. If you’re one of the lucky few to be the stars of those real-life romance stories and are in the grueling wedding planning phase, here are some of the best venues South Carolina has to offer!
- Legare Waring House, Charleston
If a romantic, southern setting is what you’re looking for, this 1840s-era house is the definition of timeless enchantment. Complete with double lagoons and a wrought-iron fountain, and surrounding moss-draped oaks, Legare Waring House is a picture perfect spot to say “I do”. The venue is accommodating with three ceremony locations and plentiful parking.
- Twigs Tempietto, Greenville
- The Cliffs, Travelers Rest
- Lowndes Grove, Charleston
- The Old Cigar Warehouse, Greenville
- The Millstone at Adam’s Pond, Columbia
The Millstone at Adam’s Pond is designed for an elegant Southern garden wedding. Built among acres of natural landscape, the venue has plenty of space for a ceremony that overlooks the pond, with dinner and dancing on the patio and a beautifully catered (which is offered in-house at this location) indoor reception.
- William Aiken House, Charleston
- Sleepy Hollow Barn and Plantation, Clemson
- 701 Whaley Street, Columbia
- Dunes Golf and Beach Club, Myrtle Beach
If all of those charming Southern buzzwords make you want to gag, there are plenty of other options. One of the most popular in this coastal state is a beach wedding. Myrtle Beach is home to resort venues including Dunes Golf and Beach Club. This venue comes complete with full wedding services, guest accommodations and activities besides the main event. If Myrtle isn’t your style, you can always check out beach resorts in Kiawah, Hilton Head and Charleston.
- Stone River, Columbia
A rustic, river wedding can be created along the banks of the Congaree River at the Stone River event venue in Columbia, SC. The river and skyline beautifully compliment the stone building’s matching fireplace and the wrap-around porch gives a cozy, yet elegant feel.
- The Cedar Room, Charleston
The Cedar Room is located in Charleston’s renovated Cigar Factory on East Bay Street, across from the Ravenel Bridge. Brick walls, wood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows make up the 8,000 square foot event space that can hold up to 550 guests. In addition to the airy indoor space, the venue’s courtyard offers an outdoor option as well.
