Charleston’s Very Own Take On The Great Food Truck Race

Featured Image Credit: Moultrie News

The Great Food Truck Race hits off with 7-teams that battle in the southeast region from New Orleans to Savannah. The conquest is full of southern scenery and landmarks where they compete in each city. At the end of each competition, the least successful food truck makes their way back home. The last standing food truck takes home a $50,000 grand prize.

Courtney White, senior vice president, said: “This season adds some southern hospitality to the competition, and the teams hit the pavement running with fantastic food, unique concepts and the hunger to win.”

Who knows southern hospitality better than our very own? Charleston’s, Braised in the South, will be competing in the race this year. The team consists of Nick Hunter, Steven Klatt, and Brandon Lapp. The boys met working in the same restaurant and have turned their love for food into a top-notch food truck. Their menu consists of southern comfort dishes such as BBQ shrimp tacos, Cajun chicken “tatchos”, and Andouille mac and cheese.

The race’s first challenge is called “dough for dough” where they create their own version of a beignet. They then must sell it to the French Market while some food trucks find that the operations are harder than they initially thought. The race stops in Pensacola, FL, Tuscaloosa, AL, Nashville, TN, and Athens, GA. The final location is Savannah, GA and the season finale will take place on Sunday, September 24th at 9 p.m.

Let’s show our Charleston love and support as our very own southern food truck and gentleman compete in the race! The Great Food Truck Race premieres Sunday, August 20th at 9 p.m.
