Not one, not two, but THREE hospitals in Charleston made the U.S. News & World Report list for best hospitals in South Carolina. Only eight hospitals were ranked this year and Charleston had almost half of them. Other than MUSC taking the crown at No. 1, Roper Hospital on Calhoun ranked as No.6, and Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in West Ashley tied for No. 7.
In a press release, U.S. News & World Report explained that this year’s rankings compared more than 4,500 hospitals across the country and that 152 ranked nationally in at least one specialty. These rankings are decided by patient outcome and hospital reputation. The list happened to be delayed by a week because the media “uncovered a problem in the data analysis.”
Four of MUSC’s specialties ranked as best programs in the country. In addition, seven more of the programs were ranked as “high performing.”
4 top specialties included:
Ear, Nose, & Throat (11th)
Geneology (30th)
Cancer (42nd)
Urology (46th)
We may live in the “Lowcountry,” but, we have the highest ranking healthcare!
