Looking for plans this Labor Day weekend? Luckily, there is tons to do in our beautiful city! Here’s just a few ideas of ways to have fun in the sun while also beating the heat!

Spend the Day at the Beach

No matter what weekend it is, going to the beach is a great way to spend the day with the whole family and Charleston is jam packed with places to sit in the sun! Visit one of the local beaches, Sullivan’s Island, Isle of Palms, or Folly Beach, or take a short trip out to Edisto Island. There’s nothing like spending your holiday with your toes in the sand!

Catch a Harbor Cruise

Set sail on the beautiful Charleston Harbor and see all of Charleston’s unique features from a point of view that not many see on a daily basis! Need a suggestion on a cruise line? Spiritline Cruise and Charleston Harbor Cruise are a couple good options!

Visit a Historical Plantation or Garden

Emerge yourself in Charleston’s vast history by exploring it’s many beautiful plantations such as  Magnolia Plantation, Boone Hall Plantation, and Charleston Tea Plantation. For a full list of Plantations and Garden in Charleston, click here.

Go Paddle-boarding or Kayaking on Shem Creek

Get some exercise and have an adventure on the water! Rent a board from a local business such as Nature Adventures and paddle around! Who knows you might even see a dolphin or two. After wearing yourself out on the water, grab some lunch at one of the fantastic restaurants on Shem Creek. Some local fan favs are Tavern and Table, Red’s Ice House, and Water’s Edge.

Go to a County Park

Get outdoors by visiting one of the many county parks and facilities in the Charleston area. Some of them even have waterparks at their locations! Check them out here:

Explore Downtown Charleston

Downtown Charleston is filled with fun-filled things to do. Try taking a carriage ride from Palmetto Carriage Works. Find yourself walking down Market Street with nothing to do and an empty stomach? Check out Tbonz for dinner and Kaminsky’s for dessert. To see the beautiful sites of this city, take a stroll through the Battery and White Point Gardens. Charleston’s rich beauty and charm will satisfy your everyday needs.
