The new craze around the nation is rolled ice cream. A new shop, Ice & Pan, has taken over upper King Street. This fad consists of a liquid ice cream base that is spread on a frozen pan and then scraped into rolls of ice cream. Pictures of this delicious treat with an unusual appearance can be found all over Instagram.
This trend first arrived in the states around 2 years ago, starting in Montreal and moving its way through the big cities (NY,LA, and Atlanta) and FINALLY found its way here. The sweet treat was originally a popular in Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, and the Philippines.
The preparation takes a few minutes and allows customers to watch the process. Customers can choose a variety of toppings and flavors for around the price of $7. The downtown ice cream store, Ice & Pan, also sells fruit teas, boba teas, slushes ad smoothies. This new fad will raise some heavy competition to our traditional stores such as: Ye Old Fashion, Republic, and Jeni’s.
Ice & Pan is located at 567 King St from noon-10pm Sunday-Thursday and stays open until 11 on Friday and Saturday.
