Where To Get Your Fiesta On For National Margarita Day In Charleston

Every day there seems to be some obscure holiday or another. Some of them are worth celebrating, and some of them aren’t. One that we’re definitely planning to celebrate is National Margarita Day on February 22. For the occasion, we’ve found some of the best margaritas in Charleston.

Zia Taqueria

Zia Taqueria is a spot known for its out of this world tacos and tortas. It’s also got some of the best margaritas in Charleston. They have their classic Zia Rita made with fresh margarita mix, tequila Blanco and triple sec. The Zia Rita can be served frozen or on the rocks. If you want something a little fancier you can try the Primo Blanco, the Mas Margarita, the Primo Reposado, or the Grand Gold. All of these margaritas are served on the rocks.

SOL has a tequila bar, so you know they have some awesome margaritas. The basic SOLarita includes Milagro Silver tequila, Cointreau, and fresh juice margarita mix. But the options don’t stop there. Other varieties you can try are Blood Orange Jalapeño Margarita, Strawberry Margarita, Black Diamond Margarita, Citrus Margarita, Blackberry Margarita, Jalapeño Cucumber Margarita, Habanero Grapefruit Margarita, and the Skinny Marg. Plus, they’ll have some National Margarita Day specials and live music!

Taco Boy has you covered when it comes to delicious tacos, but don’t forget about their margaritas next time you’re there. Their Casa margarita is the classic with Giro Silver tequila, triple sec & their house sour mix. The Casa is served frozen or shaken. The other options are the Skinny Casa, the Cadillac, Top Shelf, Pineapple-Infused, Skinny Pineapple-Infused, or the Fresh Fruit Frozen Margarita (mango, strawberry, or sangria).

the Taco Spot is another great place for Mexican and Southwestern food. And of course, they have topnotch margaritas. Their House Margarita is made with tequila reposado, house sweet & sour mix made with freshly squeezed lime juice. Then they have the Strawberry Margarita, Blueberry Margarita, and Picador Margarita.

This West Ashley spot is a wonderful place to celebrate National Margarita Day. Their Mex 1 Margarita is made with 100% Blue Agave Tequila and Mex 1 Mix. Then you have the Pineapple Habanero Margarita, the Cadillac Margarita, El Jefe “The Boss” Margarita, Jalapeño Margarita, Skinny Margarita, and Frozen Margarita.

This King Street hot spot has delicious authentic Mexican cuisine. And along with that comes the margarita. You can order Original or Classic. They even have Mezcal and Blood Orange varieties that are pleasing to the taste buds. Order this cocktail and some apps, and you’ll have a great start to the evening.

Fun facts!

  2. Last year, a whopping 4.5 million tacos were consumed by Americans.
  3. According to Tacopedia, tacos were invented between 1,000 and 500 B.C. as a kind of edible spoon.

It’s World Taco Day and what better way to celebrate than with our top five taco spots in Chucktown. What can we say? We LOVE tacos.

  1.     Taco Boy

They offer a la carte tacos that are to die for. Their taco list is also extensive, 14 tacos long! Taco Boy offers a great outside patio and a killer drink list as well. Taco Boy’s queso is rumored to be one of the best in Charleston.

  1.     Minero

The catfish taco is a fan favorite from Minero on East Bay St. The food they offer is affordable with Mexican inspired flavors. They also serve HUGE burritos for a reasonable price.

  1.     Mex 1 Coastal Cantina

A great spot to enjoy a taco and margarita. People enjoy the bangin’ shrimp taco the most! This is a great place to order a few different tacos and sip on a drink while experiencing a beachy atmosphere.

This famous ‘Taco Spot’ used to be a favorite downtown but just recently moved from its small location to Ashley River Road. However, they still serve some of the best tacos! They serve anywhere from regular tacos to Mexican street tacos.

  1.     Juanita Greenberg’s

Juanita’s is a staple on downtown on King Street. Their taco special is one of the best in Chuck. They offer 2 tacos and 1 Juan’s beer for $7 all day, every day. They also serve food until 1 am and $3 shots every day!
