Where to Vote Early or Absentee in Charleston County

With health concerns surrounding voting during the pandemic, many people are opting to vote early. Whether you are voting early through absentee ballots or in-person, here’s what you need to know.

Early Voting

Charleston County has four different voting locations for in-person absentee voting – North Charleston Coliseum, Seacoast Church Mt. Pleasant, Seacoast Church West Ashley, Main Library – Downtown. You do not have to complete an application before arriving for in-person absentee voting. Just arrive at one of the four locations between from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. In-person absentee voting will also be available on Saturday, October 24, and Saturday, October 31 from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. However, all in-person absentee voting closes at 5:00 pm on November 2nd.

Absentee By Mail Voting

All registered voters are qualified to vote absentee this year due to the “State of Emergency” surrounding COVID-19. To do so, you must request your absentee ballot by 5:00 pm on October 24th by printing, signing, and returning the application. Once you receive your absentee ballot, be sure to fill it out completely and ensure you have a witness signature on your envelope. Return your ballot in-person or by mail before 7:00 pm on November 3rd.

No matter how you choose to do it, we encourage everyone to exercise their right to vote!

It’s that time again! Travel and Leisure is opening up voting for their World’s Best Awards. Charleston is no stranger to winning top awards. In fact, Charleston has won the Best City award in this contest for the last five years in a row. You can vote here.

There’s a myriad of reasons why Charleston wins this award year after year, and we think our fair city deserves all of this praise. We have the history of an old world city and beautiful historic buildings to go with it. We have some of the best beaches on the East Coast and our forests and other landscapes aren’t too shabby either.

When voting, you can also consider our fantastic food scene. The Peninsula and the entire tri-county area are full of restaurants serving southern classics along with other American and international flavors. No matter where in town you go, you’ll find something delicious to eat. And the shopping downtown can’t be beat.

But what really sets us apart is our people and how the city’s genteel southern charm meets modernity. Often voted one of the friendliest places in the world, Charleston thrives on hospitality. Where “y’all” is ubiquitous and the manners are sincere, you’ll have trouble finding a better city to live in or visit than our very own Charleston, South Carolina.

To vote, find out more about the World’s Best Awards, and see last year’s winners, visit Travel and Leisure here.
